The City of La Cañada Flintridge Municipal Code (LCFMC) Section 6.16.010 mandates that:
No person shall engage in any business for which a business license is required without having taken out the proper license as prescribed in the business code and without complying with all regulations applicable to the business.

Before applying for a business license, you must register and create an account on the City’s ConnectLCF online portal.

RENEWAL:
You may renew your business license beginning July 1st. To do so, please log into your ConnectLCF dashboard and under, “My License” select “Renew.”

 CONTRACTORS:
A Contractor license is required for contractors and subcontractors who conduct work in the City.

PERMIT RUNNERS, ARCHITECTS, DESGINERS AND ENGINEERS:
An annual Service/Professional” business license is required.

Before You Apply

Before submitting your Business License application, we recommend reviewing the following items:

  1. Verify Your Location and Zoning

Before signing a lease or opening a business, confirm that your proposed business use is permitted at the location. Some businesses may require additional planning approvals.

  1. Determine Whether Permits or Other Approvals Are Required

Depending on your business type, you may need additional permits or approvals, including:

  • Conditional Use Permit (Planning Commission approval for applicable businesses)
  • Design Review Approval (Design Commission approval required for all new wall or monument signs, remodeled storefronts, change in canopy color)
  • Building Permits (tenant improvements, new signs, and construction projects)
  • LA County Public Health Department Permits (for applicable businesses)
  • LA County Fire Department Approvals (as required for safety compliance)
