Application Instructions for Appointment to the City Council

Thank you for your interest in serving the community as a member of the La Cañada Flintridge City Council. Applications for the upcoming City Council vacancy are now being accepted.

Application Submission Timeline:

October 2, 2026: All applications must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office no later than 5:00 p.m.
TBD: The City Council will hold Special Meeting(s) to conduct interviews of all applicants.
On or before November 4, 2026: The appointment to fill unscheduled vacancy.

How to Apply

To be considered, your application must be returned to the City Clerk’s Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on October 2, 2026. Additional written information submitted after this date will not be accepted, unless requested by the City Council.

Applications can be submitted online or in person/via email (tgarcia@lcf.ca.gov) to the City Clerk’s Office at One Civic Center Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011. Please note that the City will not accept faxed applications.

Must be a resident of the City
Must be a registered voter of the City

Important Information

The appointee will serve until the next General Municipal Election scheduled for March 2028.
Verification of voter registration will be confirmed upon submission of your application.
Once a Councilmember application is filed with the City, all information contained therein (except telephone numbers) becomes a public record.
A list of all applications received will be maintained and updated daily. You can view this list by clicking here.
If appointed, you will be required by state law to file a Statement of Economic Interests – Form 700 (upon assuming office) with the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC.gov) and annually thereafter, and complete all other mandatory training required by law)
The City may conduct a background check on any individual selected by the City Council to serve in this position in order to verify compliance with state law.
