The City of La Cañada Flintridge invites the community to take part in an afternoon of environmental programming, resources, and family-friendly activities at the LCF Earth & Arbor Day Sustainability Celebration on Thursday, April 23, from 3 to 7:30 p.m. at Olberz Park.
The event will feature a wide range of sustainability-focused offerings designed to educate and engage residents of all ages, including:
- Organic gardening and composting workshops
- Interactive art and science activities for children
- Informational booths from local agencies and organizations
- A countertop food scrap/composting pail giveaway (while supplies last; proof of residency required)
- Onsite shredding truck (available until full; proof of residency required; limited to two banker’s boxes per participant)
- Compost and mulch distribution (limited to two buckets of each per participant)
The celebration is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable practices and environmental stewardship within the community, with plans for it to continue as an annual event in the years ahead.
As part of this year’s program, the City will also mark its 50th anniversary with a ceremonial tree planting and the launch of a community tree-planting initiative that will continue over the coming year.
“Arbor Day is an opportunity for residents to connect with practical tools, resources, and ideas that support a more sustainable community,” said Mayor Kim Bowman. “We’re proud to bring folks together for this annual event to educate and to celebrate the natural beauty of our city.”
