On July 21, the La Cañada Flintridge City Council held its annual reorganization meeting, marking the start of a new legislative term. During the meeting, newly elected Council Member Quemars Ahmed was officially sworn into office and seated on the City Council. Following the swearing-in ceremony, the City Council selected Jeanne Kim Hobson to serve as Mayor and Stephanie Fossan to serve as Mayor Pro Tem for the upcoming year.
The City also recognized the service of Council Member Michael T. Davitt, who concluded his term on the City Council during the July 21 meeting. On behalf of the City and community, the City Council expressed its appreciation for Council Member Davitt’s dedication, leadership and contributions during his time in office, thanking him for his service to the residents of La Cañada Flintridge.
The annual reorganization is a key tradition in La Cañada Flintridge, allowing the five-member City Council to designate leadership roles and reaffirm its dedication to collaborative local governance. This newly formed leadership team will guide the City’s policy decisions and oversee the implementation of the 2025–27 Strategic Plan over the next year.
The transition also marked the conclusion of Council Member Kim Bowman’s term as Mayor. The City Council and staff expressed their deep appreciation for Council Member Bowman’s dedicated leadership and service from July 2025 through July 2026, during which the City navigated critical milestones, including the continuing implementation of the Eaton Fire recovery efforts.
“Serving as Mayor has been an extraordinary honor,” said outgoing Mayor Kim Bowman. “Our community has accomplished so much, all while demonstrating resilience and unity in the face of real challenges. I am deeply grateful to my fellow council members, our dedicated City staff and our engaged residents who work together every day to make La Cañada Flintridge an amazing place to grow up, raise a family and grow older. I look forward to supporting our new leadership as we continue this important work together.”
Upon accepting the ceremonial gavel, newly selected Mayor Jeanne Kim Hobson shared excitement for the City’s future. “It is an honor to serve our community, and I take that responsibility very seriously,” said incoming Mayor Hobson. “I am grateful to my fellow council members for entrusting me with this opportunity. As Mayor, I will lead with respect and integrity, ensuring that our decisions remain grounded in the needs and perspectives of the community we serve.”
The newly reorganized City Council invites all residents to stay engaged in local government and participate in upcoming public meetings. Regular City Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
