Join the City for a free, family-friendly evening dedicated to helping community members prepare for rain, flooding and other winter weather emergencies. Whether you’re creating your first emergency kit or updating your family’s preparedness plan, Community Preparedness Day offers expert guidance, interactive activities and valuable resources to help keep your household safe.

What to Expect

Community Preparedness Day combines emergency preparedness education with fun, interactive experiences for all ages. Attendees can enjoy:

  • Public Safety Displays & Gear: Explore emergency equipment up close, including fire trucks, search-and-rescue resources, LASD vehicles and the LASD Mounted Patrol horseback team.
  • Family Activities with La Cañada Community Center: Pick up free coloring books, small preparedness kits and essential emergency planning information.
  • Interactive Native vs. Invasive Plants Game & Workshop (7-7:30 p.m.): Join CORE for a hands-on activity about fire-resistant native plants and high-risk invasive species, plus home hardening and wildfire preparedness tips.
  • Pet Emergency Readiness: Connect with Pasadena Humane for adoption opportunities, emergency pet shelter information and microchipping details.
  • Weather & Hazard Preparedness: Access resources and expert guidance on rain, flooding and storm readiness.
  • First Responder Meet-and-Greets: Connect directly with local emergency personnel and public safety partners.
  • Interactive Exhibits & Giveaways: Experience hands-on activities, educational games and free family giveaways.
